Choosing the right hosting matters.
A Micro VPS delivers stability, isolation, and real control for websites that matter.

Who says I canโt make the #IndieWeb feel like Star Trek??
Static websites are the future. Not every site needs to be dynamically generated. Having a #blog served by a complex CMS like WordPress feels unnecessary after using #11ty .
Compute is growing in cost and becoming scarce. Why waste it on sites suited for static generation?
Plus, who wants to host a server with a database, a CMS, a bunch of plugins and all the security headaches that comes with it? #SSG #IndieWeb #Blogging
Today's #ScreenshotSaturday! We've started a new series on our brand new #blog called #ShiritaiYokaiShokai, where we introduce different yลkai that appear in #Hamayumishi. This time is the fearful Otoroshi! Or is that Osoroshi? Whatever it is, it's terrifying!

I miss this pre-Web 2.0 era of the internet when going to websites and forums -- rather than monolithic, walled garden social networks -- was the norm.
However, the indie web, and fediverse have been bringing a lot of that feeling of originality and purpose back and I'm grateful for it.
If you want to sample some of the creative sites people are currently making, I suggest checking out: https://nekoweb.org/explore
Itโs Friday and that means itโs time for a lighthearted argument on the internet! This came up on the #IndieWeb IRC so you get it here too ๐

More blog updates! Feeds, books and watch log oh my!
I've added a few more features to my site. A book log, a watch log and the feeds to go with them.

i like following you weirdos to your websites and then tossing them into my #rss reader. y'all type a lot of words and they're nice to read on my little kobo. i hope to get better at sending quality words into the world.
Check out my new post!
Homescreen Mantras
The mantras that I remind myself of every day.

Is there really no officially decided slash page for a book/reading log for #IndieWeb??? How is there a /blank page but no /book or /reading page?! Dumb.
I wrote this article as a primer for folks on how the "social networks"* keep us locked in. If you like it, consider sharing it with a friend who is new to the world of #privacy, the #fediverse, or getting off of billionaire/US tech.
*Also, why "legacy algorithmic media" may be a better term for the Facebooks and Xitters of the world.

Feedback welcome, boosts of course ok, have a great weekend, and let's fix this mess! ๐
