Redesigned the blogroll on Tinypost today. Single column now, sorted by latest activity, with favicons pulled from RSS feeds. The blogroll also moved into the profile header as a row of stacked avatars linking to the full list. My blog is named “pixel dirt” because I experience so many parallels between the natural world and the digital.
For example, today a concept just “clicked” when I was trying to change something on my website, something I’ve done many times before but it always felt a bit “sticky”.
It reminded me of times I’ve gone foraging for mushrooms, frustrated I can’t find any, but I keep on and eventually find what I’m after. 🍄🟫 And feels so exciting, despite the challenge to get there.
Another parellel is reciprocity and care. Just as we tend to the land, respect it’s power, and honor its fragility, we must do the same with our digital ecosystems. What we choose to put into either, is what we will receive back. This is why I respect online spaces like the #fediverse and #indieweb. And this is also why I #farm.
Over the past year I’ve found myself rediscovering Quakerism - something that began during my university years in London.
At the same time, I’ve slowly been finding my place in the Fediverse.
