Self-expression matters deeply in the IndieWeb community, and for good reason. But customization easily becomes complexity. How much is too much?

From an end-user perspective, it's annoying inbound #ActivityPub functionality in #WordPress requires a separate #Webmention plugin rather than being built into the ActivityPub plug-in.
This makes sense from a _protocol_ point of view, since full-fledged ActivityPub servers can function entirely without sending each other Webmentions, but it really doesn't make sense from a user experience point of view.

I got quite far with a community system that I was going to add fedi-integration to, but as the UK government is passing laws that mean you need lawyers/money to run a community these days I decided to shelve it.

I'm now working on individual content hosting app for myself that will have less appeal, but won't leave me as exposed to regulatory issues. If it works out okay I'll make it public

Also switched from .Net to Go(lang) because MSFT are going too hard on AI
