My KeePass and Syncthing setup
How I sync passwords across my laptop, desktop, and phone using KeePassXC and Syncthing, plus a couple bash scripts I wrote to handle masked emails (like 1Password's feature) and merge sync conflicts.

This!
Matt recently posted Dear WebMention users, please ask more open-ended questions.
This. So much, this!
We also WebMention a lot.
This article originally appeared on The Fulcrum.
Welcome to this week’s The Programmer’s Fulcrum.
It’s your weekly curation of the essential news in the Open Media Network and Fediverse development communities with a focus on devastating big tech via Techno Anarchism.

Dear WebMention users, please ask more open-ended questions
I love using WebMention, but I find so few posts that I feel I can reply to. I am desperately hungry for WebMention content that asks open-ended questions I can reply to.
I follow the Open Mentions WebMention topic closely (I follow them all because I made it), so ping something there or WebMention this post if your site is rich with fun stuff I can respond to.

I updated my website to remove the graphic links on the Updates feed and add thumbnails to post lists. https://futurehorizondesign.net.au/posts/2026-05-23-Website-Cleanup-The-Updates-Feed.html
Started my evening looking up gardening tips. Got sidetracked and spent an hour engrossed in this article by Olia Lialina from 2020 concerning personal webpages and the ongoing history the World Wide Web: https://interfacecritique.net/book/olia-lialina-from-my-to-me/

site updates:
- removed unused CSS classes from the top navigation menu.
- added `:active` and `:focus` states to links.
- all links are now underlined. increases visual highlighting, while preserving the site's minimal design.
- also working on a print stylesheet, but this is challenging for edge cases like my mastodon server guide. `break-after: avoid` isn't working for headings.
I like this quote from The Boring Internet (about how a lot of it's still around, just overshadowed by the glitzy, extractive, corporate net, and we can still build on top of that foundation)
The boring internet isn't protected by innocence. It's protected by awkwardness.

Every property that made these protocols feel old and uncool to you in 2014 is part of what's keeping them alive in 2026.
