What was here was a link to a blog post called, no. I won’t buy you a coffee but I like this reply 1 million times more, and this reply links to the original post anyway so you get two in one! https://brennan.day/yes-buy-them-a-coffee-support-and-mutual-aid-on-the-indieweb/ #IndieWeb #Blogging #Blogs

I was following James’ Search engine shortcuts in Firefox which was very helpful, though I was not seeing this part of step 5 in Firefox on Windows:

“Click the icon of the site in the ‘This time, search with:’ bar. If you haven’t already added the site as a search engine, a small green + icon should appear indicating you can add the site as a search engine.”

I knew that indieweb.org advertised OpenSearch, so I thought there should be a way the browser picks up on that. I found that right-clicking in the address bar gave me the option Add “IndieWeb (en)”.

screenshot of right-click menu with the option to add 'IndieWeb (en)'

That worked and the search now shows up under Settings > Search Shortcuts. However, it appears that the edit option is disabled, which seems like it might be a bug. That prevents me from adding a search shortcut like @iw unless I manually add the search engine.

It has become so sad and depressing to me to see that the #indieweb and #smallweb has become more and more ultra #rightwing now many if not most webrings are full of ultra nationalists who started using Linux and the #fediverse because, in their own words "microsoft and social media are goyslop soy develepments" and, apparently, this is the opposite? I want to know what goes on their minds (if they know) about how important #jewish people were for early unix culture.

finally reclaimed my evenings from the algorithm 🙌 posting once with lifesvibe.net means i'm actually *living* instead of cross-posting all night. small creators deserve time back. #indieweb #CreatorLife

I’ve really enjoyed building my website so far. It’s reminded me of my love of doing it years ago. Part of me wants to learn php and all that. I might but web searches have been helping me loads too. It feels nice to not be on and using the corporate internet.

My favourite thing is thinking up ideas and trying to implement it somehow. Having so much fun doing it

It seems the #Indieweb is currently deep into the #coffee buying #gravy train.
So, here's my preferred way of having a coffee:

Zurück in die 90er mit Neocities: I did it!

RootBadger update: an Android app is now in the works and should be available soon.

In the meantime, the site is open for posting, replying, and creating groups. Early users can still claim topics, shape discussions, decide whether groups are open or moderated, and help build the community from the ground up.

I wrote a post about the clock language I played with at Recurse Center called:

\[ \exists - \backepsilon \]

https://www.fractalkitty.com/there-is-3-such-that/

This is just a prototype that the main purpose was for me to explore how I would define Types and how they interact.

This is a purely visual language. I'd like to think about what this would be with ears only at some point in time. I do think it is a good candidate for a folk computer interface or analog toy.

It's official: Defacto, Mark II is online.

The visual style of HisVirusness.com has been refactored from the ground up, making it more robust, responsive and maintainable. The CSS architecture now mirrors the backend's.

A year's worth of experience made this possible. Not redesigned. Refined.

Static Site Webmentions

Blogger Michael Harley wrote a post about adding webmention support to his blog. I am pro-webmention (see my NLJ post on site-to-site conversations, so I sent my congratulations in webmention form. He explained that he had previously held off on implementing webmentions because his particular static site generator set-up had made it complicated. To be sure, reading about the set-up made me happy that webmention support here on ECS requires little more than installing Matthias Pfefferle's […]
