Local-first isn't a buzzword here: Crossposter runs on your machine, your tokens never leave it, and nothing phones home. Own your tools.

Just read a great-ish report on the working class and then ran into the most annoying pay wall message ever. "You have 59.2% of this article left to read. The rest is for subscribers only." Fuck off. Closed the tab. This is why I stick with small blogs and the #IndieWeb

Good Internet magazine pauses publishing

Good Internet only started publishing, both online and in print, about a year ago.

News that the founders have decided to cease publication indefinitely is sad for for the IndieWeb/SmallWeb community, whom the magazine supported.

Running an online magazine is a major undertaking on its own. A print version is another matter all together. An independent publisher I know in Australia, did something similar several years ago.

Whenever I asked how it was going, their first response was to […]

Hey @q! Your website got mentioned at an #Indieweb meetup, so I thought you might be interested. I've been building a CLI version of my website for quite some time... it's become a pretty advanced project at this point. Feel free to poke around.

It's also on Github at https://github.com/kupietools/web-CLI-browser/

Mastodon 4.6 is out with featured user collections, similar to Bluesky starter packs. I’m exploring the best way to support this in Micro.blog. The API is similar to quote posts in how it’s built around opting in, so there’s more chatter between servers via ActivityPub.

im not really sold on activitypub or atproto as a standard. has anyone made an app where you subscribe to people via an rss/atom feed and then replies/reblogs are handled by outgoing rss/atom feeds, possibly using some sort of email or webmention service so they know when they've been replied to? if not, is anyone working on one so I can donate to them?

Working on an indie search engine for the small web.

No ads. No spammy ranking games. No AI slop. Just the good old search experience: real results that actually match what you typed. Self-hostable and reliable.

What do you think?

New page on #BurgeonLab

It's #Junited2026, where you share links to blog posts you enjoyed in the month of June.

Sharing is caring, and I love the small web / IndieWeb, so this is a lovely initiative by Robert Birming (the creator of this community event).

Indieweb.social has just been updated to Mastodon v4.6. through @mastohost

We've removed Bird UI for now as there were a few teething issues - especially for light mode users.

Let us know what you think! ☁️ 💙

I just found out about https://bubbles.town and I'm liking the old-school feel for surfacing actual human blogs. It's got a voting system and a Top feed to make popular blogs more visible, but it's also got an unfiltered chronological feed. It's pretty nice looking and could be a good way to find new thoughts to read.
