Thinking about every dehumanization of bloggers I’ve seen growing up. To me, it seemed like pop culture hated, and I mean hated, bloggers. I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. Now however, I get more information, news, personal perspective, and even educational material through people running blogs on their own websites but when I was growing up, you weren’t a real writer if you had your own blog and website. You were the laughing stock of the Internet if you had your own blog and your own website. Imagine if we encouraged blogging and website ownership decades ago. To put things into perspective, the dehumanization of bloggers and website owners is almost the same as the pop culture dislike of podcasts today. #IndieWeb

I run one: rmendes.net, built on Indiekit (an open-source IndieWeb server) plus a set of plugins I maintain. It does both directions https://rmendes.net/replies/2026/06/29/39092

Love this, actually. > Warp Point's aspiration is to help more readers discover great writing about video games, and to help authors who feel like they're sending their heartfelt work off into the void feel a sense of camaraderie. In the spirit of building a better, more independent web less beholden to corporate interests, we're currently not accepting submissions from Substack. While its free publishing offer is unbeatable for newsletters, it comes at the price of being linked to Polymarket and the literal Nazis that Substack has promoted via recommendations. We believe we can build a better network effect of our own by lifting one another up — one that doesn't benefit Substack's goal of FOMOing writers into its insular social media platform. https://www.warppoint.games/about #Gaming #Games #VideoGame #IndieWeb #Directory #WebRing #WebRings

Even though I really don’t quite understand web rings yet, and I am much more partial to directories, I thought others would like to see this. warp point: a gaming blog webring for the modern age https://www.warppoint.games/ #IndieWeb #Gaming #GameDev #WebRing

Your Blog Won’t Explode… And I Can Prove It

This past week, I made a major change to my blog. I prepped and I polled and I tested and retested. Then, I finally published and tested and refined and tested and republished. When it was all done, I stumbled across Robert Birming’s post reminding me, and the rest of us, that our blogs won’t explode. Well, I am living proof of that.

After some frustration trying to extend the theme of my current site (using TailwindCSS + DaisyUI) in Hugo, I decided to start migrating my website over to @11ty.dev . I've heard great things, and it seems like it's much more customizable. Stay tuned for updates 😅 #webdev #indieweb
