📝 Practicing Without the Teacher’s Count: Making the Sequence My Own I ran a values audit on myself and didn’t like how cheap talk is. So instead of posting that practitioners should be able to practice alone, I built the tool that makes it poss… #indieweb #POSSE #smallweb → read the full entry

Holy shit. While I was revisiting the idea of of automatically syncing my activities from Strava's walled garden to my own website, I noticed they just raised the wall quite a bit: from now on, only Strava users with subscription can use the API to access their own data!

Time to plan my exit from their platform I guess. And fuck you Strava!

I remember Geocities it's been years now, but Neocities indieweb is a thing! Much better than AI slop imo neocities.org #neocities

🇬🇧 Thank you to @devconf for giving me the unique chance to speak about #Madblog, #ActivityPub, #Indieweb and federated blogging in front of an Italian audience.

Thank you to all the amazing speakers who brought their own experiences and perspectives on topics such as open-source, IT governance, democratization of software and building European alternatives.

Thank you to the organizers to make sure that the event was a success, and to the university of Pavia for hosting us.

See you next time!

Chromatic Grid is a 5x5 board. Your goal: make it entirely grey.
The catch: clicking a square also cycles the 4 squares touching it. It's pure "Rubik's Cube" style chaos management.

No apps, no ads, no tracking. Just a single HTML file.

Play it here:

Most useful takeaway: free AI image-to-video tools are best for turning a still image into a short motion clip without much setup. I pulled together options worth testing first if you want quick results over heavy editing. https://toolstackscout.com/ai-tools/ai-image-to-video-generator-free/ #AI #ImageToVideo #IndieWeb

This is a throwaway test post created by Emma's Spike 3 (Ghost Admin API + Keychain validation). It will be published briefly and then deleted. Safe to ignore/delete if you see it.

I have reached the dangerous stage of a side project where it works on my machine, has a README, and therefore must be inflicted on the public.

Elsewhere is a small POSSE tool for static sites: write on your own website, then render platform-specific posts for Mastodon, Bluesky, etc.

Your website is the home. Platforms are edges.

Today we’re working on stability improvements.

Our Cloudflare constraints have become a blessing in disguise, pushing us to refactor, simplify, and keep the system optimized.

Better architecture, reliability, and scaling. Good constraints make better systems. ✨

Has anyone figured out how to sign into Indieweb with microblog, via IndieAuth? When I use my website URL, I get forwarded to micro.blog’s platform, with a message that “I’m already signed in as JTR.” What am I supposed to put in there? Appreciate if anyone has it written down somewhere.

I was in conversation with a person that blogs on Facebook. When I said I write on my own website, she was endlessly baffled as to how I have readers. I Explained my RSS fee gets submitted to directories, and people share my stuff in forums and indie social media and she just could not comprehend it. Since my audience is not a built in audience with an algorithm, she doesn't understand how I can maintain an audience. She kept asking me, if there's no algorithm, how do people find out about you and keep up with what you do? I explained that I have a mailing list for the folks that don't use RSS. She asked me how I monetize my content. I said, for the things that's on my website, I don't aggressively monetize it. I ask for donations if people like it. But your work is open for everybody to read it? She asked.

I explained that the reason why I keep my work open access is so that everybody that's in non-privileged countries could access it and read my stuff.

I'm sorely convinced that the Internet has ruined itself.

Getting webmentions working end to end

I *think* I've found a bug in the way #Lemmy sends certain #WebMentions.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Snapshot of my blog’s reactions by week

I love getting likes, shares, and all that. I also enjoy charting things. Thus, I charted some data from my fediverse instance that is also a blog.

As well as being a bit of the fediverse, this account is also a single-user #WordPress blog. It receives ActivityPub likes, replies, and boosts, WebMentions, pingbacks, trackbacks, pings, and local comments.

The data for the chart is updated once a day and does not show the current week. That’s to stop the last data point looking low and to stop me obsessing over my reaction count while still letting me view nicely formatted data.

You can see the live chart on my blog. Today (8th July) it will look exactly the same. It will remain fairly similar until Monday morning. The chart uses Google Charts because I don’t like to reinvent the square wheel and I’m not that good at JavaScript to roll my own. Feel free to suggest open source libraries that can do this to a similar standard.
