I've gone in on Blaugust (https://nerdgirlthoughts.game.blog/2026/07/15/blaugust-2026-is-coming/) and aiming at 31 posts between my https://vanderwal.net/random/ blog and https://personalinfocloud.com blog.
My gauntlet to myself is at: https://vanderwal.net/random/entrysel.php?blog=2153
Wanting to start blogging, get back in the habit, or post a bit more with focus join on in.
I was thinking back to when I started making @davesmapper way back when, and it stemmed from finding the tiles created by @dysonlogos on StumbleUpon and having an OCD moment and wanting to fix some small bugs on the little web page that had been created to randomly serve the tiles.
That got me thinking — I miss the old web. I know #IndieWeb and #Neocities exist, but I miss the magic of a button that would bring you to random websites to explore.
is this a good time to bring up newsletter.cowsite.net? this feels like a good time to bring up the newsletter archive. you can read all past editiong here B] #cowsites #newsletter #internethistory #internetculture #oldweb #indieweb

30 minutes. 🚀
The idea underneath all of it: the server was never the blog. Your folder is. Build, deploy, comments — each one is just a script you can open and read.
v1.0 at midnight. See you in the morning.
No database. No gems. No admin. Just ./blog.sh
Really digging brolly.sh for quick weather checks. If only it had RSS feeds.
4 hours to v1.0. 🚀
./blog.sh reaches v1.0 at midnight, and a whole new site goes live with it.
Tonight's first number: the whole site builds in 1.9 seconds. A page is 54 kB of HTML and 555 lines of JavaScript, and the entire site makes exactly one external request — our own analytics, which the site says out loud.
No database. No gems. No admin. Just ./blog.sh

I have a page on my site about setting up webmentions (https://reillyspitzfaden.com/wiki/tutorials/webmention-tutorial/)
People have seemed to find it useful (I keep getting webmentions about people using it!) and I hope it can be useful for others too
Today is Send a Friend a Webmention day — here's my note about that: https://reillyspitzfaden.com/notes/2026/07/send-a-friend-a-webmention-day-2026/
Hours away now. 🚀
./blog.sh hits v1.0 in the morning — new site and all.
A small taste: the whole site builds in 1.9 seconds and loads exactly one external request. Ours.
No database. No gems. No admin. Just ./blog.sh
See you at sunrise.
