đź’§ FeedEcho v1.11 is out, and drip mode is the headline feature.

Ever add a feed that dumps 40 items at once and floods your timeline? Now you can set a max posts-per-hour on any echo. FeedEcho queues the overflow and releases items as the rolling 60-minute window opens, so your timeline stays calm and the posts still land.

How to use it: edit any echo, set "Max posts per hour" to a number (0 = off), save. Failed releases retry from the stored payload, so items that roll out of the feed are never lost.

🧰 FeedEcho 1.10 is out.

Echo templates are now real, sandboxed Jinja2 instead of my old regex placeholder hack. Conditionals, filters, and the full item dict are available, plus a live Preview button that renders your template against the feed's three most recent items before you save it.

No more guessing what a post will look like. Old templates keep working unchanged, and bad templates get rejected in the form instead of silently failing later.

For years, the rule was simple: feed the machine, or get buried. I got tired of letting a black-box algorithm decide if my work was worth seeing after 30 minutes, so I built a 5-platform direct distribution engine.

Got tired of letting a black-box algorithm decide if my work was worth seeing after 30 minutes, so I'm stepping off the hamster wheel to build a direct publication for creators.

It might be weird for a pastor to post this, but it resonates with me on so many levels. Indieweb is punk

Love that Jim Mitchell created this new IndieWeb is Punk Manifesto site, inspired by my blog post from 2025.

It feels, to me, that if Mastodon were operating the way I think matches its intent, we’d see servers functioning as like.. discord adjacent communities that also, thanks to federation, connect to the larger #fediverse. But I don’t really see that happening much. Maybe more server centric discoverability, things like channels, or topics or something, might be something that helped?

I’m both here and on BlueSky and I started posting on both around the same time and it does feel like I’ve had more emergent conversations there. It often feels here like I’m just talking to no one.

Maybe that’s because I self host my instance or maybe I’m not “doing it right” Mastodon is where I’d prefer to be for various reasons. But I’ve seen a ton of resistance from others to coming here and I don’t know how to fix it. #fediverse #indieweb

I’ve been thinking a lot today about the obstacles less tech savvy people might face toward being on the #fediverse or otherwise joining the #indieweb, and how we could address those.

I do think federated discovery is worse than on rival platforms, but this seems like it should be a solveable problem. I think there’s a perception that “more people = more of my people” which is harder to address.

I also think ATProtocol and the Fediverse end up competing over a similar audience.

It’s okay to be sensitive, and it’s also okay to fuck up (I’ve fucked up plenty worse myself) but when you’re a creator with a public-facing project like Pagecord, you need to be able to handle criticism, even when it’s unfair or aggressive. This is the Internet. Many marginalized folks face far worse harassment for simply existing.
