As Jim Mitchell says, Indieweb is punk, and clearly I like spinning my own threads, but I do have a question: Since you still need to rent a domain name to get on the Web, isn’t there something more indie, like hosting your own server on a mesh network? Did I miss something?

My 31st post in August for Blugust is on the strange state of identity we are in, but something not wholly unknown to me.

💧 FeedEcho v1.11 is out, and drip mode is the headline feature.

Ever add a feed that dumps 40 items at once and floods your timeline? Now you can set a max posts-per-hour on any echo. FeedEcho queues the overflow and releases items as the rolling 60-minute window opens, so your timeline stays calm and the posts still land.

How to use it: edit any echo, set "Max posts per hour" to a number (0 = off), save. Failed releases retry from the stored payload, so items that roll out of the feed are never lost.

🧰 FeedEcho 1.10 is out.

Echo templates are now real, sandboxed Jinja2 instead of my old regex placeholder hack. Conditionals, filters, and the full item dict are available, plus a live Preview button that renders your template against the feed's three most recent items before you save it.

No more guessing what a post will look like. Old templates keep working unchanged, and bad templates get rejected in the form instead of silently failing later.

For years, the rule was simple: feed the machine, or get buried. I got tired of letting a black-box algorithm decide if my work was worth seeing after 30 minutes, so I built a 5-platform direct distribution engine.

Got tired of letting a black-box algorithm decide if my work was worth seeing after 30 minutes, so I'm stepping off the hamster wheel to build a direct publication for creators.

Love this. IndieWeb is punk: > Nobody’s waiting for permission to have a website. You don’t need a “content strategy.” You don’t need a niche. You need a place that’s yours, and the nerve to hit publish. 🎸
It might be weird for a pastor to post this, but it resonates with me on so many levels. Indieweb is punk
