2 years ago I started implementing Webmentions as @janmon described in his own blog: https://janmonschke.com/adding-webmentions-to-your-static-blog/

About half-way I forgot about it, but… bridgy has been running all this time, so the data has been collected!

Fast forward to today: https://yves.vg now utilises Webmentions and displays likes, boosts and mentions :)

Hooray federation!

I have given my personal website a bit of a refresh.

Nothing fancy, mostly just consolidating the UI I had decided for the blog articles years ago, specifically:
- new set of font-faces
- more mobile friendly with larger tap areas
- improved vertical rhythm
- dark mode.

Dark mode is something I always struggle with. If you have an opinion rooted in something more than "I don't like it" let me know :)

Oh and I added my face.

I wrote up weeknotes. Like all the cool bloggers. Am I a cool blogger now?

Five Lessons Indieweb Developers Can Learn from Ken Hawkins https://www.adamdjbrett.com/blog/five-lessons-from-ken-hawkins/

THULNET currently has two websites. Is that much of a “web”? Debatable. But every webring has to start somewhere. 💾 Check out my tiny corner of the old web — and if you have a personal site of your own, throw it in the ring. samthul.com/pages/webring/ #Webring #IndieWeb #OldWeb #PersonalWeb
I miss when the internet was just a bunch of weird little websites made by people who felt like making weird little websites. So I made a webring. THULNET 💾 samthul.com/pages/webring/ #Webring #IndieWeb #OldWeb #retro #nostalgia #samthul
What does it take to be on or be part of the #indieweb?

As several have shared before me:
* own your domain and publish some content on it

That’s the foundation. If you have a personal website on a domain you own and control, you’re on the indieweb or part of the indieweb or however you would like to express a sense of belonging.

Of course there are lots of things you can do to be more indieweb, and that’s very much a choose your own adventure journey.

Maybe you’ll decide to post your content first on your personal site rather than on silos, and only post copies (syndicate) to social media walled gardens.
* https://indieweb.org/POSSE

Maybe you like taking an explicitly principled approach, step-by-step.
* https://indieweb.org/principles

Maybe you’ll decide to entirely quit using specific silos, for any reason, whether you created a replacement with your own site, or switched to a community owned and run solution.
* https://indieweb.org/silo-quits

Maybe you’re a developer and decide to implement various open web standards (formats and protocols) so your indieweb site can interact more with other indieweb sites.
* https://indieweb.org/building-blocks

Maybe you want to join a community of like-minded folks creatively expressing themselves on their personal sites, treating each other respectfully, encouraging each other, and collaborating on building better solutions than sites that require agreeing to long and heavily imbalanced terms of service.
* https://indieweb.org/join

All of these are optional.

Make a personal website on a domain you own, put some content there.

Welcome.

«There is no such thing as full decentralization»

There's always an axis that centralizes: identity, connectivity, discovery, or cost. The useful question isn't "is it decentralized?", it's which of these it sacrificed, and what that costs you the day that point breaks.
