ActivityPub, the Fediverse, the IndieWeb/Open Media Network, and Techno Anarchism = Punk Rock
This article originally appeared on The Fulcrum. You may not know it, but if you are reading this, you are a punk. Probably. If you are a frequent reader of our site, you definitely are. 🤘🏽 ‘Ready, Steady, Go’ I am currently enjoying Matthew Worley's remastered for Punk’s 50th anniversary, No Future: Punk, Politics, and British Youth Culture, 1976 - 1984. And reading the introduction (Teenage Warning) motivated me to finally write this article. I have been considering it […]
I switched my newsletter option on my web site (weeknotes -> email) to a new provider recently, not realizing the level of crap ads that they insert on the free tier. I'm sending out to only a few people, so paying money seems silly but also, I can't stand sending my people ads.
So, #IndieWeb, help me out here: are there any low-effort, free options for a very low traffic email list (1 message per week to double-digit recipients) that can automatically send out messages from an RSS feed?
Amid the dying embers, a resilient cohort of indie web bloggers, artists and creators will keep going, keep on talking to each other through their blogs, without tracking, pop-ups or invasive ads. Making fun websites, helpful websites, pointless websites (the best kind) that serve no purpose other than to manifest someone’s spark of creativity. Ignored by the lumbering giants that have gorged themselves into a stupor, keeping low under the radar of the hungry LLM crawlers eager to voraciously gobble up the last remaining crumbs of the free web.

If you're thinking about BSDs, maybe you'd like to read Kemotep's post about them. Mostly about installing FreeBSD (and setting up a desktop) but there is some OpenBSD and NetBSD info in there as well.
