The #Blaugust 2026 blogging challenge had a nice set of awards this year based on reaching a certain number of posts published:
* 1* — Newbie Blogger. *if it was your first time doing Blaugust
* 5+ — Bronze
* 15+ — Silver
* 25+ — Gold
* 31+ — Rainbow Diamond
From https://nerdgirlthoughts.game.blog/2026/07/15/blaugust-2026-is-coming/.

These levels, and the total for the duration (rather than one per day) made the challenge more inviting, accessible, and fun, removing (most of) the stress of a typical daily challenge for a month.

When I started the Web And Standards September Useful Posts (#WASSUP) blogging challenge, I said it was similar to Blaugust and noted “30 posts during the month of September”. While I adopted Blaugust’s total posts for the duration (rather than daily) aspect, I meant to include such levels too.

James (@jamesg.blog) reminded me of this in his first WASSUP post yesterday:
* https://jamesg.blog/2026/09/02/hide-on-desktop-mobile-css
and noted explicitly:

“I am not planning to write every day about web development per the challenge, but I will try my best to share a few HTML and CSS tips throughout the month!”

After a bit of brainstorming in the #indieweb cafe channel and some further thoughts, again, inspired by the Blaugust levels, here are the #WASSUP2026 levels to start with:

* 1 ⭐️ Starter. Congrats on starting the challenge!
* 5 ✨ Weekly Tipster. Post once per week, or at least 5 times for the duration.
* 8 🕸 Weekends Weaver. Post every weekend day, or at least that same number, 8 times.
  (Thanks to James for this suggestion!)
* 22 ❇️ Weekdays Wizard. Post every weekday, or at least that same number, 22 times.
* 30 💠 Superbly Useful. Post at least 30 times during the month.

I’ve updated the original post to include these awards, and they’re all self-assessed.

Due to some blogger api changes, I'm testing my bridged-posts, cross-posts, and #webmentions.

are there any legit website guestbook services left out there? ddg isn't returning much of anything but stuff that looks really scammy.

RE: https://mamot.fr/@ploum/117207616607879638

This is pretty damn cool. I've been using @keyoxide as my means of #cryptographic proof within the #decentralizedweb. But this feels more accessible and less burdensome to implement. I think I'll take a stab at making a self-hostable check on my #indieweb platform when someone uses #indieauth to interact with my blog and add them to my human.json file 🤔

This is probably only interesting to other web weavers, but my site shows webmentions as of today!

Typically, they are shown below the page they link to. Inspired by https://vhbelvadi.com/ I'm only showing the name (see https://kedara.eu/repeat-that-repeat/ for an example, or the second screenshot).

However, if the webmention (only) links to e.g. my homepage, I show them on my "Wall of mentions": https://kedara.eu/wall-of-mentions/

Very happy with this new addition (which took way too much time, lol)!

Curious about what #IndieWeb Homebrew Website Club meetings talk about? We take pretty good notes on what we share and learn and keep up with. Here are the notes from yesterday's meetings. https://indieweb.org/events/2026-09-02-hwc-asia-pacific

With some #staticSiteGenerator and #javascript magic I now have full text search for my #linkblog https://abhinavsarkar.net/linkblog #indieweb

Is there anything relatively simple I can do to prevent these foreign entities from pinging my blogs? I get these big spikes from China, Singapore, Brazil, and now Seychelles, and I don’t even know where that is. I know they’re not reading my posts, but I don’t know what they’re doing. I’d prefer not to spend money to block the countries, but I would totally block them.
